“What do you think about the Christ?” (Matthew 22:42)

The Jews thought the Messiah was a created being and not God. Jesus made it clear who He was. “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30). “I am in the Father, and the Father in Me” (John 14:10). Seven times He identified Himself as the I AM. For example, “Before Abraham was, I AM” (John 8:58). After he was raised from the dead, He confirmed He is the I AM. “I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End … who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

This is important for us today. If Jesus Christ is God, then people who think He’s their Savior, but not their Lord are in BIG trouble. A lot of people think Jesus Christ is their Lord, because they think they do good works for Him. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” (Matthew 7:21-23).

Now, if it’s possible to be deceived when you think you’ve served Jesus Christ as your Lord, how do you think it will be for you on judgment day if you haven’t served Jesus Christ as your Lord? “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” (Galatians 6:7-8).

If you know you haven’t been serving Jesus Christ as your Lord, repent and ask God to save you, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, which means infinitely more than saying a meaningless prayer.
